It has been several days, but I woke up Sunday morning with a song on my mind and then I realized that this was the week when I was younger when we would be going to Montana almost every year when I was growing up. It has been a busy work week since then. The last 5-day work week I will have for a while. Starting next week my days will start an hour earlier, end an our later, and i'll have an extra day to get things done that I haven't had much time to do for quite a while. It will be nice.
Along with the Army Cadence I wrote, I also wrote one to the tune the the Army Theme:
Over here, over there
We are here because we care,
As more victims keep coming our way.
We will go, we will fight!
We will give them all their rights,
As more victims keep coming our way!
And we'll be their voice
While they know they have a choice,
But we'll help them feel safe security.
For we are truly victim advocates,
We are the Ecko Company!
Nobody in my group wanted to sing, and I had a feeling that would be the case, so I wrote one to the army chant, and that is the one that got chosen instead.

What a special day
Today, June 27, 2008 was just designated victim advocate day by Governor Huntsman at the Graduation Banquet for the 2008 Utah Victim Assistance Academy. I was privileged to go after my Supervisor was given permission by our director to let me go this year. I wonder if the person in charge of the Academy was the driving force behind this or even the incentive award that my boss left on my desk on the day I almost didn't come to work, and then I was surely motivated to stay. Our theme was "Boot Camp: Operation Freedom-justice for all." It was a great week. I was in a victim advocate's group called the "Ecko Company" and I wrote the marching chant that was used in our contest. We didn't come in the top two, but I heard we came in 3rd. I just wrote the words. The whole team contributed to everything else with what we did in our performance. It was such a great week with wonderful presentations. I had the sweetest moment today, however, when I got to share something special with a Cheif of police who was there. We both had something in common with a special case we had to deal with.
